Citroën reveals the new electric ë-Berlingo

Apart from some cosmetic differences, the ë-Berlingo pure-electric MPV is virtually the same as the Vauxhall / Opel Combo-e Life that was unveiled earlier this month.

The electric motor’s output depends on the driving mode selected:
  • ‘Eco’ minimises energy consumption by restricting power to 81 PS (80 bhp / 60 kW) and torque to 180 Nm (132 lb-ft)
  • ‘Normal’ increases those figures to a mid-level setting of 108 PS (107 bhp / 80 kW) and 210 Nm (154 lb-ft)
  • ‘Power’ permits better performance by allowing access to the full 136 PS (134 bhp / 100 kW) and 260 Nm (191 lb-ft)

With an under-floor 50 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a two-mode regenerative braking system, maximum range according to the WLTP method is 174 miles (280 kilometres). It’s adequate but not outstanding, in other words.

A 7.4 kW single-phase on-board charger is fitted as standard, while an 11.0 kW three-phase alternative is going to be optional. More significantly, 100 kW DC fast charging is supported, so a recharge to 80 percent capacity is possible in just half an hour.
