Smart teases its pure-electric SUV concept

Having an SUV in the range is pretty much mandatory for car manufacturers nowadays. Consequently, Smart’s plans to launch one aren’t really a surprise.

The brand’s compact eSUV concept is due to be unveiled at September’s IAA Mobility 2021 show in Munich. Some teaser images have just been released ahead of that event, though.

While few technical details are known, it will feature a battery-electric powertrain. Furthermore, the new arrival is going to be built on a modular platform provided by Geely (the Chinese company which now jointly owns Smart alongside Mercedes-Benz).

The Alfa Romeo MiTo supermini is now available with the innovative two-cylinder TwinAir petrol engine. Although its capacity is only 875 cc, a turbocharger and the MultiAir electro-hydraulic valve control system mean it produces a respectable 83 bhp (62 kW / 85 PS) and 145 Nm (103 lb/ft) of torque. Aston Martin Vantage GTE

Aston Martin Racing has announced that it’ll be entering a V8 Vantage in the GTE Pro category of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE. Scroll down for more images and a video. Painted in Gulf blue and orange, the car’s driver line-up has been confirmed as Adrian Fernandez, Stefan Mücke and Darren Turner. The plan is to contest all eight rounds of the WEC, which commences with the 12 Hours of Sebring on the 17th of March. For the third race - June’s Le Mans 24 Hours - a second Vantage is going to be run, but its drivers have yet to be named. In preparation for the season’s premier event the team also intends to compete in the Long Beach and Laguna Seca rounds of the American Le Mans Series. Chevrolet’s Captiva is set to become a truly global vehicle. The compact crossover, which is already available in more than fifty territories worldwide, will soon add the United States to its tally of markets when sales begin there towards the end of this year. To be known as the Captiva Sport in the US, Chevrolet is aiming its new addition primarily at fleet customers. Arguably it’s a direct replacement for the defunct Saturn Vue, which was itself based on the Captiva’s very close relation, the Vauxhall / Opel Antara .
