2022 NACTOY semi-finalists

50 motoring journalists from across Canada and the United States have voted to decide the semi-finalists for the 2022 North American Car of the Year, Truck of the Year and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards.

The 23 contenders that appear across the three categories were selected from a total of 36 new or substantially-new models.

Arguably, the Truck of the Year list is the most interesting. It includes a couple of electric vehicles from brands with very different histories (namely GMC and Rivian), as well as two candidates which could spark a compact pick-up resurgence (the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz).

  • Genesis G70
  • Honda Civic
  • Lucid Air
  • Mercedes-Benz EQS
  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk. VIII (Golf R / Golf GTI)
2022 North American Truck of the Year
