Electric BMW Motorrad Vision AMBY revealed

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the Vision AMBY concept at the IAA Mobility 2021 show in Munich.

AMBY – a contraction of ‘Adaptive Mobility’ – denotes that this electric two-wheeler can switch between three different modes according to where it’s being ridden.

In essence, they act as speed limiters, restricting progress to 15 mph (25 km/h) on cycle paths, 28 mph (45 km/h) in urban centres, and 37 mph (60 km/h) out of town. GPS mapping and geofencing could be used to automatically select the appropriate setting.

Despite appearances, the Vision AMBY definitely isn’t a bicycle. A twist-grip throttle controls acceleration, there are no pedals, and the uninviting flat saddle has a fixed height of 830 mm (32.6”). Unladen weight is approximately 65 kg (143 lb).

Neither motor output nor battery capacity have been disclosed yet. However, the estimated WMTC combined range on a single charge is around 68 miles (110 kilometres).

At the moment, a production version seems unlikely, not least because new legislation would probably be needed to address driving licence and insurance requirements.

Aston Martin Vantage GTE

Aston Martin Racing has announced that it’ll be entering a V8 Vantage in the GTE Pro category of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE. 2012 Civic NGTC livery

Honda Racing’s all-new Civic NGTC race cars were first seen at a Brands Hatch test session last month. Then they were painted plain white, but now the colour scheme that will be worn in this year’s British Touring Car Championship has been revealed. As expected, the design is predominantly white with red and black stripes. A deal with Yuasa has also been confirmed, which will see the battery manufacturer becoming the renamed Honda Yuasa Racing Team’s title sponsor for the next three years.
