Nugget Active and Trail camper vans launched
Some more variants are joining the Ford Transit Custom Nugget range. Both the regular Nugget and long-wheelbase Nugget Plus campers will soon be additionally offered in Active and Trail guises.
The Nugget Active features 17” alloy wheels, protective body cladding and a side-mounted roll-out awning. Inside, the layout’s unchanged, but black worktops, satin-finish furniture units and pale wood flooring create a unique ambience.
The Nugget Trail is recognisable by its 16” alloy wheels, body cladding, bold matte black front grille, black leather upholstery and a darker dining table. This version also benefits from a mechanical limited-slip differential (mLSD), so driving across slippery surfaces should be easier.
Standard equipment on all of the new models includes an elevating roof and a Dometic touchscreen. The latter – which is attached to the wardrobe – monitors and controls various habitation functions such as the heating, boiler, water tank levels, interior lights and battery state. Appearing on the options list for the first time is an innovative heated rear bench seat.
Power is provided by the familiar 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine that’s mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Anybody ordering a Nugget Active can pay extra for a six-speed automatic transmission instead. Alternatively, if they stick with the manual, then the mLSD is available to them.
