MG Marvel R Electric sales begin in Europe

According to MG, the Marvel R Electric is a new brand flagship that boasts a premium interior and a generous level of standard equipment. However, this rebadged version of the Roewe Marvel R isn’t being built in right-hand drive form yet, so its European launch doesn’t include markets such as the UK and Ireland.

The Marvel R Electric is a Chinese-made C-segment pure-electric SUV, which measures 4.67 metres (15’ 4”) long. Customers will have a choice of three different trim grades.

Entry-level Comfort and mid-range Luxury variants both come with rear-wheel drive, two electric motors, and a 70 kWh battery pack.

Thanks to 180 PS (177 bhp / 132 kW) plus 410 Nm (302 lb-ft) of torque, they can accelerate from rest to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h). Their WLTP range is a practical 250 miles (402 kilometres).

Alternatively, the Performance model gains a front-axle motor and permanent all-wheel drive. Consequently, output rises to 288 PS (284 bhp / 212 kW) with 665 Nm (490 lb-ft), slashing the 0-62 mph sprint to 4.9 seconds. Top speed is unchanged though, and WLTP range drops to 230 miles (370 kilometres).
