The Air4 is a flying Renault 4
2021 marks 60 years since the Renault 4 was first launched. As part of the anniversary celebrations, Renault and TheArsenale have collaborated to create the one-off Air4 concept.
It combines a carbon fibre facsimile of the 4’s familiar bodyshell with four two-blade electric-powered propellers. Energy is stored in lithium-polymer batteries which have a total capacity of around 90,000 mAh.
Inside, there’s space for just the pilot. After taking off at 9 mph (14 km/h), the Air4 is able to climb to a maximum altitude of 2,300 feet (approximately 700 metres) and fly horizontally at up to 58 mph (93 km/h). Range and recharging times haven’t been mentioned, though.
Currently, the Air4 is being displayed at the Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées in Paris. Visits to Miami, New York and Macau are planned for next year.
