The Ford Maverick at SEMA 2021

This year will see the first appearance of the Ford Maverick at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. Ford is going to display three modified versions of the compact pick-up truck, with each following a distinctly different theme.

The first is by Air Design USA. Based on a Lariat SuperCrew FX4, it features 18” wheels, 31” all-terrain tyres and a 1.5” suspension lift kit.

In addition to a glazed cargo bed hard top, the specification includes protective mouldings for the sills and wheel arches. Rear under-seat storage bins and a portable refrigerator can be found in the cab.

As part of the Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti (DRAGG) initiative, Oxnard Union High School and the Oxnard Police Department have created a beach rescue concept vehicle.

A unique livery is combined with wheel arch extensions, a roof-mounted light bar, and a cargo bed hard top. Inside, Coverking Neosupreme covers are fitted to the front seats.

Last but not least is a motorsport-inspired Maverick designed by Tucci Hot Rods. In what is likely to become a growing trend, its front splitter, wheel arch extensions and rear spoiler were all made using 3D printing.

Low-riding coil-over suspension, custom wheels, a hard roll-up cargo bed cover, four Recaro Sportster seats and racing harnesses are among the other enhancements. Perhaps surprisingly, the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine appears to have been left standard (apart from a Borla cat-back exhaust upgrade).
