Aston Martin launches the DBX707

According to its manufacturer, the new DBX707 “elevates Aston Martin to the pinnacle of the segment” thanks to class-leading performance and dynamics.

As that name suggests, output from the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine has been increased from the usual 550 PS (542 bhp / 405 kW) to 707 PS (697 bhp / 520 kW). Similarly, peak torque becomes 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) instead of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft).

The DBX707 also gains a more responsive nine-speed wet-clutch automatic transmission, a modified electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle, and a shorter final drive ratio. Consequently, the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint can be achieved in just 3.3 seconds, while the top speed rises to 193 mph (310 km/h).

A recalibrated air suspension system is claimed to improve the handling, plus revisions to the electronic power assistance enhance steering feel.

Because an ability to slow down effectively is equally as important, the DBX707 is fitted with carbon ceramic brakes as standard. Consisting of 420 mm (16.5”) front discs, 390 mm (15.3”) rear discs and six-piston calipers, the set-up incidentally reduces unsprung weight by a considerable 40.5 kg (89.2 lb).

Externally, the DBX707 is distinguished by a larger satin chrome front grille and 22” alloy wheels (23” items are optional). In addition, the SUV’s aerodynamics benefit from a redesigned front splitter, reprofiled side sills, a bigger rear diffuser and an extra tailgate lip spoiler.

Aston Martin intends to begin DBX707 production before the end of next month. The first deliveries are then expected to follow shortly afterwards.

In the UK, prices start at £189,000.
