2020 World Car Awards finalists

A jury comprising eighty-six automotive journalists from around the globe has decided the ‘long list’ finalists for the 2020 World Car Awards.

German brands dominate the proceedings. Indeed, half of all the models are from either BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche or Volkswagen (and the pure-electric Porsche Taycan could end up taking three of the titles).

With such alternative-fuel vehicles becoming mainstream, organisers have decided to ditch the separate World Green Car of the Year accolade which was run in previous years.

The 2020 contenders are:

World Car Design of the Year

Anything eligible for the previous four categories was considered for this prize, but a panel of seven design experts determined the finalists.

Next, the top three finalists for each award will be announced at the Geneva International Motor Show on the 3rd of March. The winners are then going to be revealed at the New York International Auto Show on the 8th of April.
