2021 Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer launched

As part of a series of updates for the mid-size Vito, Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new pure-electric people-mover version. Named eVito Tourer, it’s likely to be particularly popular with city-centre and urban operators.

A unique badge on the tailgate is pretty much the only visual indication that this model doesn’t have an internal combustion engine. Instead, an electric motor sends up to 201 bhp (150 kW / 204 PS) plus 362 Nm (267 lb/ft) of peak torque to the front wheels.

The most important component is probably the lithium-ion battery pack. Installed underneath the vehicle’s floor, a usable capacity of 90 kWh is sufficient for a combined-cycle range of 261 miles (421 kilometres).

Recharging is done via a CCS-compatible connector that’s integrated into the front bumper. As expected, the time required varies according to the method used:
  • 11 kW AC dedicated wallbox (0-100%) – less than 10 hours
  • 50 kW DC public facility (10-80%) – approximately 80 minutes
  • 110 kW DC public facility (10-80%) – less than 45 minutes
The eVito Tourer will be available with a choice of 5,140 mm (16’ 10”) or 5,370 mm (17’ 7”) body lengths. Deliveries are due to begin this summer, but UK prices and final specifications have yet to be confirmed.
