The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is coming to Europe
Ford has confirmed that limited quantities of the high-performance Mustang Mach 1 are soon going to be available in Europe.
The new arrival is recognisable by its unique grilles, body graphics and five-spoke 19” alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres. Other bespoke features – such as the front splitter, boot spoiler and rear diffuser – are designed to improve the aerodynamics. Indeed, the Mach 1 creates 22 percent more downforce than a regular Mustang GT.
Beneath the bonnet sits a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine which gains reprogrammed management software, an Open Air Induction System, larger throttle bodies, an auxiliary oil cooler and a modified quad-tip exhaust. Consequently, maximum power becomes 453 bhp (338 kW / 460 PS) at 7,500 rpm, while peak torque is 529 Nm (390 lb-ft) at 4,600 rpm.
That output can be channelled via either a TREMEC 3160 six-speed manual gearbox with rev matching, or an upgraded ten-speed automatic transmission. Both options are combined with rear-axle cooling and a limited-slip differential, but their respective acceleration times haven’t been released.
As well as recalibrated springs, bushes and MagneRide 2 adjustable dampers, a special chassis set-up includes stiffer anti-roll bars. The electric power-assisted steering is retuned to offer better responsiveness, too.
Mustang Mach 1 deliveries are expected to begin across Europe next year. Ford has yet to announce prices.
