Ford Ranger chassis cab launched in Europe

Operators requiring a combination of bespoke bodywork and go-anywhere ability are the target audience for the Ford Ranger chassis cab. In particular, the utilities, construction, forestry and emergency services sectors are expected to generate most demand.

This new variant is being offered solely in two-door Regular Cab guise with the entry-level XL trim package. The maximum possible conversion length along the chassis rails is 2,518 mm (99.1”), while gross vehicle mass is 3,270 kg (7,209 lb). Up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) can be towed.

Power is provided by a 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel engine that sends 167 bhp (125 kW / 170 PS) plus 420 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque via a six-speed manual gearbox.

A part-time four-wheel drive system with a low-range setting is fitted as standard, too. However, if lots of driving over rough ground is likely, then an electronically-locking rear differential and all-terrain tyres are both available as cost options.

Ford dealers will begin accepting Ranger chassis cab orders from January 2021, but prices have yet to be confirmed.
