Toyota reveals the Overland-Ready Tacoma

Like many events in 2020, this year’s annual Specialty Equipment Market Association Show won’t be taking place as normal. Instead, organisers have created SEMA360 Showcase, an online-only alternative that promotes the aftermarket industry.

As part of its participation, Toyota has built some one-off modified vehicles. Among them is the Overland-Ready Tacoma which is based on the current TRD Pro variant.

Accordingly, an upgraded suspension set-up benefits from ToyTec BOSS Aluma 2.5 Series coilovers and dampers, as well as an ‘add-a-leaf’ package. 16” matte black Method Race Wheels 704 Trail Series rims are shod with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 255/85R16 tyres.

Performance won’t be lacking, either. The Tacoma’s 3.5 litre V6 engine gains a TRD air intake, a TRD Pro cat-back exhaust, and a Magnuson TVS1900 Roots-type supercharger. Consequently, 370 bhp (275 kW / 375 PS) and 447 Nm (330 lb-ft) of torque are delivered via a six-speed automatic transmission. A Toyota E-locker locking differential is fitted, too.

For protection, CBI Offroad Fabrication has supplied the aluminium front bumper, steel rear bumper, tubular steel rock sliders and various skid plates.

Sleeping accommodation is provided by a bed-mounted Yakima SkyRise fold-out tent, plus there’s an on-board water tank. The enhanced specification also includes a ComeUp SEAL Gen2 winch, a CBI Offroad Fabrication aluminium roof rack, MaxTrax MKII traction boards, a Truck Covers USA lockable cargo cover, a PowerTank PT10 air compressor, and a Hi-Lift jack.
