2021 UX 250h Premium Sport Edition unveiled

Lexus is hoping that a new trim grade will broaden the UX 250h’s appeal. Named Premium Sport Edition, it combines styling enhancements and extra equipment in an attempt to generate more interest in this compact SUV.

Compared to an entry-level UX 250h, exterior upgrades include a set of five-spoke 18” alloy wheels (instead of the usual 17” items), rear privacy glass, parking sensors and a reversing camera. Also fitted is the Sport Pack, so the front grille, door mirror caps and roof rails are black, plus the LED headlights have a smoked finish.

The interior specification gains black Tahara faux leather upholstery, heated front seats, satellite navigation and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Safety is improved too, thanks to the addition of a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.

Power comes from the familiar ‘self-charging’ hybrid powertrain, which comprises a 2.0 litre petrol engine, an electric motor, a continuously-variable automatic transmission, a nickel-metal hydride battery and front-wheel drive. Total system output is rated at 181 bhp (135 kW / 184 PS).

The Premium Sport Edition is available now with an on-the-road starting price of £33,150. By contrast, a regular UX 250h costs £29,950.
