The Lancia Ypsilon gets a mild facelift for 2021
Although the current Ypsilon turns ten years old next month, Lancia’s sole model remains extremely popular in Italy (the only country where sales continue). Remarkably, its market share there was an impressive 13.9% in 2020.
To help maintain that demand, the Ypsilon has received some cosmetic updates.
On the outside, the grille and lower air intake are restyled, plus the headlights now incorporate LED daytime running lights. All of the chrome components gain a satin finish, too.
Inside, the highlight is a new infotainment system that features a 7” touchscreen and Android Auto / Apple CarPlay compatibility. Less obvious is the addition of a ‘Prime’ air filter, which uses activated-charcoal filters and polyphenols to prevent over 99% of allergens and 98% of particulates from entering the cabin.
Three upholstery packages are being offered. Technical fabrics inspired by sportswear give ‘Silver’ a more casual ambience, while ‘Gold’ raises the elegance factor with darker colours and a chevron motif on the seat backs. Alternatively, ‘Gold Plus’ enjoys an upgrade to Alcantara.
Prices for the 2021 Ypsilon are very reasonable. Indeed, thanks to government incentives, they start from just €9,500.
