Continental GT Speed Convertible revealed

Bentley has introduced the 2022 Continental GT Speed Convertible. This new driver-focused model gains an upgraded 6.0-litre W12 TSI twin-turbocharged engine, which is complemented by various chassis enhancements. However, like the recently-unveiled coupé version, it won’t be available in Europe.

With 659 PS (650 bhp / 485 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of peak torque, performance is mightily impressive. In fact, the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint takes just 3.7 seconds, while the car’s top speed is 208 mph (335 km/h).

Switching to Sport mode unlocks several benefits. For example, the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission up-shifts later and down-shifts earlier, plus gear changes are executed much quicker. In addition, the all-wheel drive system sends more power to the rear axle.

As well as active air suspension, adaptive damping and Bentley Dynamic Ride (active anti-roll control), the Speed specification boasts all-wheel steering and an electronic rear differential. Carbon ceramic brakes are optional, though.

Unique cosmetic features include dark-tint grilles and a set of 22” forged alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin combines leather and Alcantara upholstery with Piano Black veneers.

Prospective customers will doubtless appreciate that roof-down motoring should be possible even on chilly days. The seats, armrests and Alcantara-covered steering wheel are all heated, and Bentley has fitted integrated neck warmers (now quieter than previously) to combat the adverse effects of cold draughts.
