70th Anniversary Land Cruiser for Australia
In 1951, Toyota launched the BJ (which would soon be renamed Land Cruiser). Now, to celebrate the model line’s platinum jubilee, Toyota Australia has created a 70th Anniversary edition based on the Land Cruiser J70.
This special version takes the existing GXL trim grade as its starting point. Extra features include a black ‘heritage’ front grille, a black front bumper, darkened 16” alloy wheels and black arch extensions. LED front fog lights and daytime running lights are fitted too.
Inside, premium black upholstery is complemented by a redesigned centre console that incorporates additional cupholders and USB charging points. Black leather coverings for the steering wheel and gearsticks, fake wood inserts on the dashboard and silver accents around the air vents complete the upgrades.
Power comes from the usual 4.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel engine. 205 PS (202 bhp / 151 kW) plus 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque are sent to all four wheels via a dual-range five-speed manual transmission, while front and rear differential locks help to maximise the Toyota’s off-road potential.
The Land Cruiser 70th Anniversary is available in wagon, single-cab and double-cab guises with a choice of Merlot Red, Sandy Taupe or French Vanilla paintwork.
Planned production volumes and starting prices are:
