BMW Canada commissions three R 18 customs
BMW Motorrad Canada has teamed up with some independent builders to create a trio of customised R 18 motorcycles.
Augment Motorworks from Toronto, Ontario produced the R 18 Tattooed Chopper. As well as tattoo-themed paintwork, this bike features mini-ape hanger handlebars, a hand-carved headlight mount, a unique saddle, a sissy bar and a ‘cocktail shaker’ exhaust.
The R 18 Future Café is by Jay Donovan, who’s based in Victoria, British Columbia. A completely revised fuel tank and seat unit contribute to its longer and lower proportions, while a straight-back exhaust has been rerouted over the cylinder head.
When designing the R 18 Diamond Custom, Konquer Motorcycles of Kelowna, British Columbia wanted to envisage how a factory custom dragster might look. Accordingly, striking metallic bronze paint is complemented by pinstripes and gold BMW roundels, plus there are several bespoke parts including the fenders, saddle and electronically-adjustable exhaust.
The three R 18 specials – which all remain street legal – are due to be exhibited at BMW Motorrad dealers across Canada this summer.
