Unique BMW R 18 ‘Spirit of Passion’ revealed
As the R 18 ‘Spirit of Passion’ demonstrates, it’s not just BMW cars that can have a controversial front grille.
Kingston Custom was responsible for designing and building this one-off bike, which becomes the second member of BMW Motorrad’s ‘SoulFuel’ series alongside last year’s R 18 Dragster.
Obviously, the most conspicuous feature is the hand-made streamlined ‘dustbin’ style fairing that completely encloses the front wheel. Other bespoke elements include a wraparound rear mudguard and the handlebars.
Many components have remained entirely stock, though. Among them are the fuel tank, frame, suspension and 1,802 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine.
While the R 18 ‘Spirit of Passion’ is undoubtedly an arresting sight, limited steering lock and the motorcycle’s aerodynamics could result in an unsettling riding experience (especially in crosswinds).
