The Mustang 2.3L High Performance Package

Ford has introduced the 2.3L High Performance Package. As that name suggests, it’s an optional upgrade for the entry-level Mustang EcoBoost coupĂ© and convertible.

Taking the 2.3 litre four-cylinder Focus RS engine as a starting point, modifications include a larger twin-scroll turbocharger and a bigger radiator. Projected output is 330 bhp (246 kW / 334 PS) with 474 Nm (350 lb/ft) of torque, which can be delivered via either a six-speed manual gearbox or a ten-speed automatic transmission.

The expected results are a mid-four-second 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

To complement the extra pace, the 2.3L High Performance Package incorporates numerous chassis enhancements. The steering, stability control and drive modes have all been recalibrated, for instance. Also fitted are the more capable 13.9” front brake discs and four-piston fixed calipers from the Mustang GT, unique 19” wheels, a limited-slip rear axle and a front-mounted alloy strut brace.

A front splitter, a black grille, a rear spoiler and some special badges are part of the specification, too.

The Mustang EcoBoost 2.3L High Performance Package will be launched in North America this autumn. Coupé customers who purchase it can then order the EcoBoost Handling Package that consists of wider wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa4 summer tyres, a Torsen 3.55:1 rear axle, a thicker rear anti-roll bar, retuned MagneRide dampers and semi-metallic brakes.
