2013 911 Carrera 4 and 4S

A year after the rear-wheel drive models were first revealed, Porsche has unveiled all-wheel drive versions of its latest 991-series 911 Carrera.

As with the previous generation, the new transmission set-up will be available in Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S guises for both the Coupé and Cabriolet body styles.

The regular Carrera 4 is powered by a 3.4 litre six-cylinder boxer engine that produces 345 bhp (257 kW / 350 PS). For those wanting a bit more performance, the Carrera 4S boasts an output of 394 bhp (294 kW / 400 PS) thanks to an increased capacity of 3.8 litres.

With the optional dual-clutch PDK gearbox fitted in place of the standard seven-speed manual, that’s enough for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 184 mph (297 km/h).

Apart from the different badges, aficionados will be able to spot the all-wheel drive variants by their slightly broader rear wheel arches that conceal wider tyres, plus a red band between the rear light clusters.

Due to go on sale at the end of this year, the 2013 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S models are set to make their debut at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show.

UK prices start from £77,924:

Model Manual PDK
Carrera 4 Coupé £77,924 £80,311
Carrera 4 Cabriolet £86,583 £88,970
Carrera 4S Coupé £87,959 £90,346
