2021 World Car Awards finalists

This year’s World Car Awards ‘long list’ finalists have been announced.

Chosen via secret ballot by a jury of 93 motoring journalists from 28 countries, the 2021 contenders are:

  • Aston Martin DBX
  • BMW X6
  • Land Rover Defender
  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class
  • Polestar 2
World Performance Car
  • Audi RS Q8
  • BMW M2 CS
  • BMW X5 M / X6 M
  • Porsche 911 Turbo
  • Toyota GR Yaris
World Urban Car
  • Honda e
  • Honda Jazz / Fit
  • Hyundai i10 / Grand i10
  • Hyundai i20

World Car Design of the Year

As in previous years, the finalists for this category were selected by a panel of seven design experts.

  • Pratap Bose – Vice-President of Global Design, Tata
  • Luc Donckerwolke – Chief Creative Officer, Hyundai Group
  • Euisun Chung – Chairman, Hyundai Motor Group
  • Tomiko Takeuchi – MX-30 Chief Engineer and Program Manager, Mazda
  • Akio Toyoda – President / CEO, Toyota Motor Corporation
The next stage in proceedings will see the top three finalists for each award named on the 30th of March. All of the winners are then going to be declared on the 20th of April.
